STAGE 1

Team Building & Idea

Qualification

Any experts in architecture, exhibition, and events can participate.

※ Up to 5 persons are allowed for joint participation.
※ However, at least 1 Korean national is required to be included among the team members.

Goal

To select 3 Teams for Stage 2

Proposal Guidelines

[1] Team-building

Expertise and Diversity
It is recommended to include experts in various fields who can contribute to the Expo, such as cultural contents, space design, and industrial technology.
Qualitative Evaluation
The direction of majors and activities, qualitative evaluation of achievements, and collaborative ability are highly appraised rather than quantitative evaluation of careers and achievements.

[2] Idea

Theme of Korean Pavilion
The Korea’s unique and special theme (theme/concept) should be brought out with the the main theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.
Theme of Architecture/Exhibition/Event
Concept of architecture, exhibition, and event that is coherent and related organically and closely with each other
Planning
Concise plans for each field of architecture, exhibition and event
Message
Clear message to propose/present to the world through the Korean Pavilion /
When expressing a message, use concrete expressions that reflect the era of the 21st century.

Proposal Guidelines

[1] Expo Analysis

Analysis of the Times
Analysis of the past Expos focusing on the relationship between the architecture and exhibition of Expo / The team’s perspective on the trend and development direction of the Expo in the 21st century
Analysis of Korean Pavilion
Find the direction that the previous Korean Pavilion had, and seek a way to move forward in the developmental direction.
Analysis of Pavilions of Other Countries
Analysis focused on cases that reflect national identities or visions, or cases in which architecture and exhibition are well linked, rather than analyzing award-winning works

[2] Vision and Concept

Uniqueness
Based on the Expo analysis, the master plan should be planned to reveal the uniqueness of Korea within the main theme.
Future Orientation
The master plan should be designed not to re-examine themes previously covered nor share issues with other countries.
Feasibility
The master plan should be an idea that encompasses architecture, exhibitions, and events.

[3] Technical Support

Specificity
The master plan should include a plan for technical realization to prove specificity and feasibility as well as analysis and vision.
Storyline
The technical support plan should be divided into at least three specific fields, including architecture/exhibition/event performance to be held at the Expo Korean Pavilion, to create a storyline (Time/Space Table).
Agreement and Alliance
If necessary, documents may be submitted on the recruitment of companies, agreements and technical alliance.

– Solution Proposal

Based on the above three contents, the selected team should propose problems and solutions for the existing Expo. / Implement strategies of the master plan, schedule, roles and division of work should be presented.
